Auditioning Fabrics
So Mr-my-wife-can-make-anything-from-an-old-sock-and-a-mason-jar needs a gift. A gift for a co-worker. Not some one he knows well. We are trying to save money so it is off to the stash to see what we can put together in short order. I asked him to go through some fabric and pull a few that he liked. He grabbed the little bit of orange and teal-ish paisley in the lower left hand corner. (It is a snippet of a Joel Dewberry Heirloom fabric I got in one of the scrap packs from Hawthorne Threads.) From there, we started pulling anything that seemed to work.
Here you can see a part of the mess we made all over the 'design floor', including the rejected piles of pinks and yellows. Mr-what-is-wrong-with-harvest-gold-I-loved-that-stove is pretty much set on going brown and blue. So I think we are pretty much set.
I just love how going for a random scrappy look requires so much planning and angst!

Random is best! I like to pull out any fabrics whether they match or not. Also you can't go wrong with a colour wheel theme =D
ReplyDeleteLove the cheerfulness of the colors...what are you gonna make with it????
